About Us:
 SacramentoBethlehem
Sister City was founded in friendship and solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Bethlehem, Palestine.  We are an all volunteer organization of Sacramento area residents.  Our interest is developing connections and friendships with the people of Bethlehem.
Renowned throughout the world for its religious and historical significance, Bethlehem today is under foreign military occupation.  Its people are increasingly isolated, suffering land confiscation, obstruction of their economy, and a diminishing future.
Bethlehem is reaching out to the international community to end this isolation and injustice.  In the spirit and mission of Sister Cities around the world, SacramentoBethlehem is responding, asserting that we, Sacramento and Bethlehem are members of one global community.
SacramentoBethlehem welcomes opportunities to share with others in the Sacramento area our experiences and friendships with the people of Bethlehem.

On December 15, 2009, the Sacramento City Council voted unanimously to make Bethlehem, Sacramento's 9th Sister City.  On May 18 , 2010, a Sacramento delegation attended the official signing of the Sister City Agreement in Bethlehem, Palestine.  Also present were members of the
Bethlehem Association.

The Mayor of Bethlehem, Dr. Victor Batarseh, and Sacramento Mayor, Kevin Johnson, meet for the first time on November 29th, 2010 in Sacramento.  They exchanged gifts and greetings. Mayor Batarseh extended an open invitation to Mayor Johnson to visit Bethlehem.

WHAT ARE SISTER CITIES?

Sister City activities can include municipal, business, professional, educational and cultural exchanges and citizen volunteer participation. It's everything from official city-to-city delegations, to a young person in Sacramento chatting electronically with another young person in Bethlehem.
